The first round of NYU's intramural soccer tournament was on Friday. My team, Alfani FC, went up against the Uptown Allstars. Everyone was a little nervous, not knowing how the competition would be; however, as soon as the game started it was all Alfani domination.
The game was indoor and consisted of two 25 minute periods. Within the first 10 minutes we were up 3-0. At halftime it was 5-1. The second half was all Alfani, scoring 7 unanswered goals.
The final score: 12-1.
Here is the individual breakdown:
Spencer (Goalie): Solid game. Only let in one goal. What more is there to say.
Vishnu: 3 goals. good passing and accuracy. Great chemistry with the team. Good to get over the hump of scoring - he's going to light up the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Huseyin: Best player on the team. Anchor of the defense. Champion among champions.
Bryan: Upgraded Oliver. Was willing to play wherever and played well. Great acquisition to the team.
Molly: Showed the boys who's boss. Great six (wo)man. Defense was tenacious. If she starts believing in herself she'll go even farther.
Ravi: Despite being extremely hung over, played well and showed dedication to the team.
Graham: DNP - gametime for Friday
Declan: DNP
Our next game is Friday at 3:00pm. More to come

Dragon's Back Trail
I'm not too big on hiking. I mean lets be seriously, I'm Jewish, and the last time a Jew went hiking was to go out of Egypt - and that was before we could hire car services. But when I was in Hong Kong this past week my roommate (pictured bending over) wanted to go on a hike so I said, "why not." I ended up having the best time of the week on the hike.
To get to the hike we had to take the MTR, which is Hong Kong's subway, to the second to last stop, get on the 9 bus. The bus only took exact change, and we did not have any, so we just put in spare American coins. The bus driver either didn't care or notice. We got off the bus at a round about, walked up past a women's prison, and there is was: the Dragon's Back Trail.
It was a beautiful trail, going up and down mountains as if we were on the back of a dragon. We ended in a little fishing village where we had lunch and played mini golf on a nine hole course that was made of concrete. After that we went to the beach and played soccer with some of the local kids who, even though only 6, were not afraid to slide tackle or injure me.
It was a great day. No one fell of the mountain and died, I didn't break a sweat that much - although I did take off my shirt and got some pretty sweet looks from some Cantonese girls - and I got to see another side of Hong Kong.

Mr. Lincoln
Continuing my trend of blogging of fabulous sea/aquatic creatures, my friend Mimi (shout out!) sent me this article about how a dolphin saved two whales.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7291501.stm
I mean if that doesn't melt your heart into a million pieces I don't know what will.
I'm currently taking a class called Economics of Global Business. My teacher - Edward Lincoln. He is a Japanese expert during the week, heading NYU's Japan/US trade center, and on the weekends he dresses up in civil war garb and does mock battles in the Washington DC area (you can guess by his last name what side he fights for). On side note, I have seen him run up stairs, and he is quite nimble.
Today in class we were learning about service exports/imports and his example was as followed: "If Eliot Spitzer were to have gone to Paris for his prostitution needs, that would have been considered a service import."
This comment woke me up from my nap, where apparently I was sleeping with my mouth wide open and Mr. Lincoln was staring right at me.

"Today is a good day for ducks" - Mommy
I love my mom, but she has this idea that I'm in love with ducks. A couple of years ago she got me a rubber duck and said, "Hey I know you likes these, so I got you one." I have never said I like rubber ducks. I mean I like rubber ducks just like anybody else, but its more of a quiet, platonic like. She keeps on getting me rubber ducks though - I have a devil duck, an astronaut duck, a cowboy duck, a gladiator duck (my personal favorite), etc etc. In all, I have about 25 of them, including an oversized one that is probably a foot and a half long.
And it hasn't stopped there. Now she buys me anything that has to do with ducks, including ducks that make noises and walk and things like that. I sit awake at night thinking that one day I'm going to open my door and see a flock of ducks waddle in.
But the sad thing is, now I actually collect the ducks. People buy them for me now, and every once in a while I'll buy one on my own (I recently bought a small blue one that lights up). So now my mom has turned a percieved hobby into an actual hobby. I guess it was her plan the whole time.

My First Blog
Yea this is my first blog. I figure, if 80 year olds can figure out how to use youtube, I should probably figure out what all this blogging is about.
So while everyone was worrying who was going to win Ohio and Texas last night, i was reading about this new creature scientists have found that is an octopus with 6 legs. They have dubbed in, in all of their creativeness, the hexapus.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/03/04/octopus.uk/index.html
I'm going to try and figure out a cool catch phrase for the end of my blog, but for right now- until next time my friends.
